As part of its mission, The Washington Chorus is committed to nurturing the next generation of choral singers. The following summarizes some of the programs offered as part of TWC's commitment to education:

Since 2009, the Junior Washington Chorus (JWC) has provided 15-20 high school students each year with choral opportunities to pursue musical excellence through instruction and experience of the highest caliber. JWC offers the opportunity to perform in world famous venues, gain exposure to large works, and perform with professional ensembles and experienced choristers. Click here for more information

Each year, the Side by Side program selects up to two outstanding local high school choruses to partner with The Washington Chorus for the unique experience of rehearsing and performing alongside a world-class symphonic chorus for one concert program each winter. During the Candlelight Christmas concerts, the high schools perform their own set of music as well as sing within full chorus. Click here for more information

One of the Chorus' most popular programs, Tickets for Teens offers about 400 free tickets annually for local youth to attend TWC concerts at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets for Teens helps to foster the next generation of enthusiasm for the performing arts, gives students an alternate social outlet for the weekend, and offers additional opportunities for parents to spend quality time with their children.

In coordination with Tickets for Teens, this program brings the Assistant Conductor of the Chorus into local classrooms to give students deeper insight into the works they will be hearing at the Kennedy Center. By deepening their knowledge of the pieces, the Chorus is enhancing their enjoyment of the concert-going experience.
